Our values and kindness practices

• Please remove your shoes upon entering the studio. For spiritual and sanitary reasons, please do not take shoes into the practice space.
• Please refrain from stepping on other people’s mats without express permission.
• Please silence your phone or leave it in your car or, if it’s on vibrate, ensure that it’s on a soft surface in a cubby. Please do not take your phone into the practice space. You may find it is best to leave your activity tracker in a cubby if it has notifications turned on.
• Please don’t leave before class is finished. During final relaxation (savasana), please be as quiet as possible so others in class can get the full experience. If you must leave early, inform the teacher before class, so she/he can walk you through the process with as little interruption as possible.
• Tell the instructor if you have any physical issues that need to be taken into account (including pregnancy).
• As we don’t have facilities for child care, please don’t bring children with the intention of having them wait in the front room. Children who are mature enough to participate in class are welcome (even encouraged!) to attend classes with you, but we can’t have them in the studio unattended. Kids’ classes are coming!
• When you attend a class, please be prepared to participate fully. If you find that a pose or sequence is outside of your practice, you’re invited to take child’s pose or sit in silent meditation. We don’t allow potential students to audit classes, as that would make other students uncomfortable.
• If you borrow or rent a mat, please clean it (supplies are on the metal tub) after use.
• Please be courteous to other practitioners. Each person comes to the mat with a unique set of experiences and intentions. That is to be celebrated.
• You’ll feel better if you don’t eat within an hour or two before class.
• You are welcome to tea in the front room. Feel free to bring your favorite tea to share, or to donate to the “tea piggy” if you’d like (not required).
• If you’re running late for class, please be sure you’re signed in on the website or app. We’ll save you a spot — especially if you let the teacher know in advance.
• If you signed up for a class and find you can’t make it, please cancel using the website or app. You may be charged if you cancel late. You will be charged if you are a no-show without canceling.
• Please refrain from turning on overhead lights at the end of class. The process of relighting the practice space is intentionally gradual and gentle.
